Professional profile

Tom Fox is a practical, results-oriented executive coach and advisor who helps leaders and organizations navigate complexity, change, and growth. He works with CEOs, C-suite executives, senior government leaders, and social entrepreneurs to identify the real obstacles standing in their way, whether that is a difficult conversation, an outdated instinct, or a decision they have continued to defer, so they can move forward with clarity and confidence.

With 30 years of experience across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, Tom brings firsthand knowledge of the challenges leaders face. His experience spans strategic planning and operations, program delivery and sales, employee engagement, and large-scale organizational transformation. He began his career in the U.S. Senate and the White House, evaluated federal management programs at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and consulted on human capital strategy. He later spent 16 years with a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving government effectiveness, where he built its leadership institute from the ground up and led it as a $10 million-a-year social enterprise.

Tom has coached leaders at some of the world’s largest corporations, global nonprofit organizations, and cabinet-level federal agencies. His international coaching experience includes clients across Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, South America, and Oceania. For eight years, he wrote a nationally published leadership advice column focused on coaching federal leaders, and his insights have appeared in numerous news outlets. Clients describe his coaching style as analytical, optimistic, practical, and down-to-earth.

In addition to his professional coaching work, Tom provides pro bono coaching to entrepreneurs from historically marginalized communities in the United States and abroad who are building businesses and social ventures in their hometowns.
