Happy Birthday today to Oprah Winfrey

Nobody’s journey is seamless or smooth. We all stumble. We all have setbacks. It’s just life’s way of saying, ‘Time to change course. ~ Oprah Winfrey

From Oprah’s humble beginnings in rural Mississippi to becoming an unforgettable media personality, Oprah has been met with many setbacks.   Oprah has changed course several times over the years. She started out as a local co-host of a news station in Baltimore, MD then moving on to host on a morning cooking show in Chicago, IL.   Her success in Chicago lead her to meet with executives at ABC in Los Angeles with ideas to expand her show to other areas.   The executives were not impressed and advised Oprah to stay in Chicago where she would be successful.

After her rejection by ABC Oprah went on to form her own production company Harpo Productions and launched her national talk show.   Owning her own production company allowed her to be in charge of the content discussed and the advertising.   The authenticity of her show led to world-wide popularity.   She owned the airways for over two decades and recently has gone on to start the Oprah Winfrey Network -OWN.   There will continue to be set backs and course changes for Oprah Winfrey but her determination and flexibility will continue to bring success.
